Kybella is the first FDA-approved, injectable drug used to reduce the appearance of submental fat, more commonly known as a double chin. Since April 2015, Kybella fat dissolver has been revolutionizing the world of non-surgical cosmetic treatments. You may have seen Kybella on GMA (Good Morning America), news programs, or while surfing the Internet. Many in the cosmetic industry are hailing it as the biggest innovation since Botox. We are one of the first Houston clinics offering KYBELLA, the only non-surgical treatment approved by the FDA specifically to reduce fat below the chin (medically labeled submental fat).
KYBELLA is a non-surgical alternative to fat reduction in the neck for people who don’t want an invasive procedure such as liposuction. Submental fat is often the result of genetics or aging, in addition to weight gain, and resists diet and exercise.
During the procedure, fat cells under the chin are injected with KYBELLA, and then they rupture and are destroyed. KYBELLA is formulated using deoxycholic acid, a chemical that’s naturally produced by the body to help dissolve and absorb excess fat. It’s ideal for helping sculpt the area under the chin. As in with CoolMini, the destroyed fat cells are flushed from the body naturally, resulting in a gradual shedding of excess fat that causes a double chin.
Treatments are 100% customized based on a consultation and how much submental fat is present in addition to the patient’s aesthetic goals. Each treatment involves a series of injections, which follow a grid pattern that is marked on the treatment area before the procedure starts. The number of injections varies from patient to patient. Up to 50 may be made during a single treatment with little pain due to numbing cream.
The treatment is uncomplicated, so in most cases you are in and out within 20 minutes. Come on in during your lunch break. Kybella is that speedy!
Most patients see noticeable results after 2-3 treatment sessions. The number of treatments required will depend on the amount of fat being eradicated.
Once your aesthetic goal has been reached, there is no need for further treatment. When Kybella kills those fat cells, they are gone for good!
Kybella recovery is usually quick and uneventful. At most, patients report some minor bruising and swelling that resolves within several days. Mild discomfort may be experienced at the injection sites but is easily treated with OTC pain relievers. Some patients jump right back into their routine while others prefer to lay low for a couple of days after the procedure.
Kybella price is depends on how many injections are required for your needs, where you are located, and the experience of the practitioner providing the treatment. In general, most patients require 2-3 treatment sessions to obtain optimum results. Our team can provide you with an estimated cost for a full round of treatments during a consultation in our Beverly Hills aesthetics practice. Is Kybella worth it? Considering it’s a permanent solution, it could be considered a very wise investment.
Check with your physician if you are taking blood thinners before considering Kybella for double chin treatment. Caution should also be used if you’ve had prior surgery in the treatment area. If you have an active infection at the injection site, you must wait until it clears. Anyone who is pregnant or nursing is ineligible for the procedure. Those with a history of dysphagia (trouble swallowing) are not suitable candidates for Kybella.
