Avéli

Although cellulite is extremely common and entirely normal, it can often make us feel self-conscious and unattractive. Those little dimples that often show up all over the thighs and buttocks are caused by connective fibrous bands known as septa, which pull the skin inward. As a result, the fat cells in the area bulge, creating annoying divots that can make us feel embarrassed to wear swimsuits or shorts. If you’re interested in an effective, minimally invasive way to reduce cellulite and create smoother skin, then Avéli may be just what you’re looking for.

What Is Avéli?

Avéli is an innovative device that can be used to significantly reduce cellulite and create smoother, more youthful skin in a single treatment. The device, which has received its extended FDA clearance, uses precise technology and is unlike any other available cellulite treatment.

How Does Avéli Work?

To treat cellulite, the Avéli device uses a small razor to slice the connective fibrous bands that tug on the skin and create divots. Once the septa have been severed, it releases the pressure that they were putting on the skin. That allows the skin to lift upward, which greatly reduces the amount of cellulite and creates a much smoother skin surface.

Avéli’s advanced technology allows Dr. Lyos to carefully cut the specific connective fibrous bands that are causing the cellulite to appear. That way, there’s no need to snip more septa than what’s truly necessary for the treatment.

Where Can Avéli Be Done?

Avéli has been cleared by the FDA to treat cellulite around the thighs and buttocks. Although these aren’t the only places on the body where cellulite can appear, they are by far the most common.

Benefits of Avéli

If you’re thinking about giving Avéli a shot, there are quite a few potential benefits worth considering:

  • Significantly reduces visible cellulite on the thighs and buttocks
  • Safe and minimally invasive
  • Quick and convenient one-time treatment
  • Creates smooth, youthful skin
  • Improves self-confidence

What Should I Expect During the Procedure?

If you decide that you’re ready to do something about the cellulite on your thighs and/or buttocks, the first step will be a consultation with Dr. Lyos. This will allow the doctor to get to know you and what your goals are. He will work closely with you to ensure that Avéli is the right option; if it is, you will work together to create a personalized treatment plan. Dr. Lyos will also have questions about things like your medical history, allergies, and current medications.

Your Avéli treatment will be done as a one-time outpatient procedure. To start, Dr. Lyos will administer local anesthesia to numb the treatment area(s). He will then make several small incisions in the places where you want to eliminate cellulite. Next, the doctor will insert the Avéli handpiece, which is a small wand with a retractable blade, into the incisions.

Once the device is beneath the skin, Dr. Lyos will carefully guide the blade to sever the connective fibrous bands that cause your cellulite. Finally, he will remove the Avéli device and close the incisions to finish the procedure. On average, Avéli treatment takes around an hour to complete.

How Long Is the Recovery Time?

One of the great things about Avéli treatment is that it doesn’t require much recovery downtime. After the procedure, you will likely notice some discomfort when sitting on the treatment areas for the first few days. You may also experience bruising for up to four weeks. To minimize these symptoms, Dr. Lyos will likely provide you with cushioned pads and compression leggings.

After the procedure, you should be able to return to your normal daily activities immediately. However, you will need to avoid strenuous lower-body exercise for up to two weeks.

  • Be in generally good health
  • Have relatively good skin elasticity
  • Have a small to moderate amount of cellulite around the thighs and/or buttocks
  • Have realistic expectations for the treatment

How Long Will It Take To See Results After Avéli?

You may start to see the effects of your Avéli treatment right away, but because of the swelling and bruising, it will take time to see the final results. Usually, the complete improvements in the treatment areas will be visible within a month.
