Identified as thin veins &#8211; red, blue, or purple in color, spider veins lie close to the surface of the skin and usually appear on the thighs, calves, and ankles.\u00a0There are various reasons for how and why spider veins may arise.\u00a0For example,\u00a0reasons can apply to\u00a0heredity, pregnancy, and other events that cause hormonal shifts. Weight gains, occupations or activities that require prolonged standing or sitting, and the use of some medications can\u00a0also contribute to spider veins. Luckily, Dr. Lyos can perform a short procedure known as sclerotherapy to alleviate the unsightly veins.
