SKIN CARE
A smooth, clear complexion is one of the most important attributes of physical attractiveness. However, as we age, maintaining healthy skin and a clear, youthful complexion becomes more difficult. Your face is vulnerable to the damaging destructive rays of the sun as well as acne and injuries that can leave permanent visible scars.
The good news is that there is an array of non-surgical treatments available that can eliminate and soften imperfections on the facial skin, creating a clear, cleaner, fresher look. These include light glycolic acids (sometimes referred to fruity acids), which are natural fruit substances blended into facial preparations that can eliminate rough or dried surface skin, and Retin-A®, a special vitamin A enriched cream that can eliminate fine wrinkles and blotches from sun damages. These treatments can be used alone or often in conjunction with various cosmetic surgery procedures, such as a facelift or chemical peel.
These surface-repair treatments can do wonders to enhance your appearance and give your skin a much smoother, fresher look. But remember, none of the treatments remove deep scars and flaws or prevent aging. Also, these treatments should not be thought of as mini facelifts. Retin-A® and glycolic acid treatments are very effective, but they produce less dramatic results than surgical approaches like surgical facial rejuvenation, laser treatments, or chemical peels.
