Coolsculpting - Houston & The Woodlands, TX

CoolSculpting is one of our most popular non-invasive fat reduction procedures. It's an easy, highly effective way to target pockets of fat throughout the face and body - without surgery, downtime or discomfort.

An innovative solution to problem areas.

Weight fluctuations. Pregnancy. Aging. These are the life experiences that create the "problem areas" that can dramatically affect the way your body looks and feels.

If you have stubborn pockets of fat that are not responsive to diet and exercise - and you're not quite ready for surgery - this procedure may be the answer you've been looking for.

The Basics: How Does CoolSculpting Work?

The CoolSculpting procedure works by freezing unwanted fat cells with controlled cooling. The technology was developed by Harvard researchers who noted that children who regularly ate popsicles had thin cheeks due to the cold killing off fat cells in the area.

Once CoolSculpting freezes unwanted fat cells, they will eventually break down and die off. At that point, your body will flush them out via your kidneys. This natural process takes a few months to complete, at which point your CoolSculpting results will be considered final.

What is the Average Cost of CoolSculpting?

Candidates: Is CoolSculpting right for you?

Our Houston CoolSculpting treatment is a safe, effective and exciting approach to non-invasive fat reduction. However, it's not right for everyone.

For example, if you have a large amount of weight to lose, CoolSculpting generally will not be recommended as an option. The best CoolSculpting candidates are usually within 30 pounds of their ideal body weight.

The procedure: What to expect

When you first arrive for your CoolSculpting treatment, you will meet with one of our team members to review your body shaping goals. Because everyone's body is unique, your treatment plan will be completely tailored to your needs.

During the actual procedure, you will lie down on the treatment table and a gel pad and applicator will be gently placed on the target area. The applicator will then deliver controlled cooling to the unwanted fat.

The entire experience will be very comfortable. In fact, many of our clients read, send emails, and sleep throughout the process. You may experience some mild pulling, pinching and tingling initially, but these sensations will subside as your treatment progresses and the area becomes numb to the cold.

Downtime + Side Effects

Your CoolSculpting procedure is non-invasive and requires no recovery time. After your session, you may experience some stiffness around the treated area. This side effect will usually subside within an hour or two. The CoolSculpting applicator applies a vacuum-type pressure to your skin. You may notice a bit of tenderness or slight bruising; however, this is entirely normal and should resolve quickly. You can return to your usual activities the same day as your treatment, whether that means going back to work or other activities.

Life after CoolSculpting

Once the targeted fat cells have been destroyed and cleared from the body, they will not regenerate. However, you can still gain weight in other areas, so it's important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine moving forward.

How is CoolSculpting different from Liposuction?

In the liposuction procedure, a special vacuum cannula (tube) is inserted into the body to physically remove larger amounts of excess fatty tissue from treatment areas. CoolSculpting, on the other hand, works from the outside of the body in order to freeze fat cells and destroy and flush out a certain percentage of fat in the treatment area. Both procedures are very effective and have their ideal uses. If you’re looking to remove the largest amount of fat possible, liposuction will be a better choice. If you’d prefer not to have surgery (or any incisions at all), and can stand waiting a bit longer for your results, CoolSculpting can be a great option. Liposuction and CoolSculpting are sometimes used together to get the best possible results.

FAQ

When will I see results?

CoolSculpting works by freezing your unwanted fat cells so that your body can clear them away through its own natural process. As such, the results take time to emerge. As a general rule, you can expect to see your most dramatic improvements between one and three months post-treatment.

How Long is the CoolSculpting Treatment?

A CoolSculpting treatment typically requires about one hour or less. The length of the treatment will depend upon the number of areas you want trimmed and slimmed. The treatment is easy to experience – you will simply lie back comfortably while our CoolSculpting expert freezes away excess fat. You can read, rest, or work during treatment.

Are the Results of CoolSculpting Long-Lasting?

The fat cells that are targeted and damaged during CoolSculpting will be gone forever. They will be shed by your body over the weeks and months ahead, so you will need some patience. As the weeks pass, you will see your body taking on a more sculpted shape. Several CoolSculpting treatments may be needed to achieve a trimmer, more sculpted appearance, and every patient is different in how the body stores fat. However, if you gain weight in the future, less fat will be stored in the area treated.

Can I Return to Normal Activities After Treatment?

Yes, there is no downtime associated with CoolSculpting. You can resume your normal activities after treatment. There may be some side-effects such as swelling, bruising, blanching and redness after the treatment, as well as some skin sensitivity, aching or cramping. Any minor side effects should subside within the first few days or weeks and are generally mild. The treatment is completely non-surgical and does not require anesthesia.

What Happens if I Gain Weight?

If you gain weight after CoolSculpting, less fat will develop in the area treated – as there are fewer fat cells left to swell. While the fat cells that were destroyed by CoolSculpting do not return, not all cells that are in the treated area are affected. Any weight gain will be more evenly distributed on the body. Most of our patients are inspired to maintain the newly sculpted figure and enhance results with a healthy diet and exercise. CoolSculpting is one of the most exciting developments in aesthetics, as it is far easier on the body than many other procedures. Our CoolSculpting experts can discuss your vision for your body, and answer all your questions about what to expect, including what will happen if you should gain weight.

Is CoolSculpting Painful?

CoolSculpting is not painful, but patients will experience some minor discomfort in the initial application of the CoolSculpting device – a sensation of intense cold. You will experience pulling or tugging as the tissue is pulled into the treatment device. Any minor discomfort subsides quickly as the area becomes numb. After your CoolSculpting treatment is completed, you may experience some mild pain or discomfort as the areas treated regain sensation and this may feel like burning, itching, stinging or aching, all of which are usually minor. In fact, CoolSculpting is the most comfortable and least invasive of all cosmetic fat reduction methods.

How do I Prepare for CoolSculpting?

Preparing for your treatment starts with a private consultation with us at Lyos Plastic Surgery and Dermatology Associates in Houston. You should be in good health and close to an ideal weight, but no special preparations are needed. CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment, although you will shed some pounds in the weeks ahead. The goal of treatment is to create a more sculpted appearance by removing lingering pockets of fat on the tummy, love handles, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, or other body areas.
