Houston Ear Surgery – Otoplasty
As children, we begin to notice what makes us different from others. Children who’s ears stick out from the sides of their head are often the subject of teasing and may suffer from self esteem issues as a result. As adults, many women opt for hair styles that allow them to cover their ears and men may hide their ears in hats. Using Houston Otoplasty, Dr. Andrew Lyos is able to improve the appearance of the ears, setting them back against the side of the head.
Otoplasty or ear surgery is a surgical procedure in which Dr. Lyos makes small incisions behind the ears to reposition them closer to the side of the head. This procedure can be performed on children as young as 4, teens or adults. The earlier the procedure is performed, the more teasing the child is spared. The length of the procedure varies on the severity of the ears being corrected but generally lasts anywhere between 1 1/2 and 3 hours. There is minimal, if any visible scarring.
