Breast Augmentation Houston
In America today, there are millions of women who are unhappy with their breasts. In fact, studies indicate that one out of two women are unhappy with the size and shape of their breasts. It is not surprising that last year alone more than 125,000 women in the United States had their breasts enlarged, bringing the total number of women who have increased the size of their breasts to over two million since implants were introduced in the early 1960s. Last year alone, 125,000 chose to enhance their look through breast augmentation making it the second most popular of all cosmetic plastic surgeries.
Breast augmentation (also called augmentation mammaplasty) is an implant surgery that contours and enlarges the breast. Many women choose the procedure because they feel their breasts are too small for their bodies. Some women lose breast size after childbirth or breast-feeding. For others, mother nature was not overly generous to begin with, and there are others who are bothered by uneven breasts and the desire for a more natural, balanced look.
There are three techniques for breast augmentation which differ primarily in how the implant is placed. One technique involves an incision hidden on the lower part of the breast, just above where it touches the chest. Another places the incision around the areola (the dark pink area around the nipple). The third places the incision in the armpit. The implant can be placed either on top or beneath the chest muscle. Likewise, there are a variety of different implant sizes, shapes, textures, and filling materials which are available. The technique which is used depends on a number if factors including desires and goals which will be discussed during a consultation with Dr. Lyos.
Breast augmentation is performed with a light general anesthesia, so you’ll sleep through the entire procedure. After surgery, medication can control any discomfort which should subside in a day or two. Minimal swelling and some bruising of the breast should disappear gradually. Most women return to their routines within a week.
There is a clear consensus in the positive reaction of women who undergo breast augmentation. After this procedure, many women are able to wear clothes which they would never have dreamed of wearing prior to surgery. Along with this new figure comes increased confidence and a new attitude.
